Taken in Granada, Nicaragua.
Granada is the pre-revolutionary capital of Nicaragua. After been burned to the ground by an angry, imperialistic mayor, Granada is now restored in traditional colonial style. On the edge of town, on Lake Nicaragua (the largest freshwater lake in Latin America, and the only known place where freshwater sharks exist) are islands with huge houses on them. Some houses belong to former presidents.
The sad thing is, despite this wealth, the poverty of Nicaragua is still evident in Granada. Young children like these are found on the edges of Granada fishing or swimming. At least this boy appears to be happy.
