The lion, ox, man, and eagle are four animals which reoccur throughout the Bible and Christian art. Symbolically, the lion represents pride and honor, the ox sacrifice, the man humility, and the eagle ressurection. Additionally, they are the symbols of the four Gospel writes: Matthew (lion), Mark (ox), Luke (man), and John (eagle), whose gospel's focus on similar characteristics of Jesus.

This painting is a specifically reverence to Revelation 4:7, which tells of the four, six-winged creatures who surround God's throne, constantly singing praises. The swirling lines in the background represent the flowing music. The eyes concentrated at the bottom represent God' omnipresence, and the creatures are described as having eyes all on their body (I chose to make the eyes around them, as opposed to on them). I used a combination of a warm and cool color scheme to make the painting more vivacious.

The overall purpose of this painting is to tell of God's glory, power, and omnipresence through holy, yet almost mythological, symbols.
